ESSAY

Essay Award - Calling all teachers of 7th/8th grade Oklahoma students!  
Chapters may sponsor students from their area in the state essay project.  Teachers will receive writing prompts each fall.

Oklahoma State Organization/Gamma State Essay Project
Prompt:  
What do you want to be when you're an adult?  Explain why you would choose that career OR what you will do to prepare for it.

Participants: 7th and 8th Grade Oklahoma Students

​A password is required and can be gotten from the webmaster, state officers, or chapter president.
Essay Specifics:
  1. A procedure's packet will be sent to each chapter by September 1.  Chapters may make necessary changes as needed with the following exceptions: TOPICS, JUDGING CRITERIA, AND LOCAL PRIZES.
  2. All chapters must use the topic as stated for both seventh and eighth grade.  This topic changes yearly.
  3. Each chapter participating in the Oklahoma State contest must submit their first place seventh grade winning essay and their eighth grade winning essay on the STATE PROJECT ENTRY FORM provided in the procedure's packet.
  4. Deadline for State entries must be postmarked no later than March 1. Entries postmarked beyond that date will not be judged.
  5. The top four STATE winners (two seventh and two eighth graders) will be invited to read their essays at the Oklahoma State Organization Convention (odd years) or the Oklahoma State Organization Leadership Conference  (even years).  
  6. Each of the four winners will receive a $100 check and a certificate.
  7. Certificates will be presented to each participating chapter.
  8. Certificates will be  presented to all state entrants and will be given to chapters for participation.
  9. Chapters with the top four winners will be notified by April 15th.
  10. Chapters will earn points toward the CHAPTER EXCELLENCE AWARD - Red/Gold Chapter Recognition.
